Large rooms, very comfortable. The resturant was good especially the rooftop terrace that has a stunning view overlooking Florence. The waiters and management were world class. The quality of food and wine was very good. The hotel is very central to all the historical sights and the shopping center.
One has to pay a substantal amount to park ones car. This should be looked at.
It is in the front row of hotels that face onto the main square, at the other end of which is the harbour and all of its magnificent, berthed, multi-million dollar superyachts and maritime activity. Down each side of the square are endless bars, restaurants and shops. It was by far the biggest room we had anywhere this trip in the uk and Italy. By describing it as a luxury hotel is not referring to lavish appointments as such but to its star location whilst the rooms were perfectly adequate, comfortable and spotless. It was literally an apartment, not a room with bathroom. After all, Portofino is one of the playgrounds of the world that one can share with the rich and famous without necessarily losing and arm and a leg.
The Hotel room was extremely comfortable, very well serviced, large with plenty of room to move and relax in, exceptionally well positioned, being right on the piazza in Portofino. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was truely a wonderful experience and we would visit Portofino again and would only look to stay at the Albergo Nationale.
It was perfect
the very heart of portofino!
expensive + public parking in portofino cost add'l 26€/day
Nothing-it is the most overrated hotel I have ever stayed at in the world- it deserves 2 and 1/2 stars, three at the most.
This property surely has paid off someone to get a 4- star rating. This rating is ridiculios for this property. When we checked in to our room the bathroom was on the first level, the living area and the T.V. Was on a second level and the bedroom was on a third level-you must be joking to give this hotel a 4- star rating. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, the towels were a joke and the balcony could not fit two chairs if the guests were midgets.I Can say, uniquivabley, that this is the worst 4- star rated property in Italy and I have stayed in many properties in Italy over the last 35 years.
We were lucky to have been given a lovely room on the ground floor with direct access from a terrace on to the harbour at Portofino. Large room very suitable for a family or a disabled person. Nice clean bathroom but with no bath. I last stayed in this hotel 25 years ago and not much has changed. We loved it but the furnishings are rather tired. I think some guests might expect more for the very expensive price.
We didn't get a room but an 2 rooms appartment ! it's 20 meters from the port, just perfect !!! Ubeatabble price
the closest parking is 100m away as the town is car free. Count 20€ a day for parking, not the fault of the Hotel though..
Spartan, not comfortable, squeaking floor, old furniture and absolutely not worth $300.00 a night
Great location, a hotel that portrays an authentic, natural & comfortable Italian sytle - staff were most helpful & obliging
We felt very welcome. The hotel is perfectly located. The breakfast was fantastic and delivered to your room. The room was very large and comfortable.
A little on the expensive side of things but Portofino is an expensive destination.
Getting out of there.
Our fairly expensive room had attractive view of the dumpster and air conditioning unit across the alley. Portofino is beautiful, but rather a tourist trap. Hotel staff was somewhat spooky, we had the feeling we were being watched, and not in a nice way. Merchants, especially bartenders, seemed especially predatory, rather than hospitable. Cute town, though.
1. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, right at the main square/port 2. The rooms are spacious (we actually had a small apartment) 3. Breakfast in the room
The position, right in the Harbour with a beautiful view
The staff were not overly friendly except the porter.
The location was perfect and the room was clean and comfy.
Wonderful service with very helpful and friendly staff. Clean and large room with a lovely view. Excellent location. Highly recommend this hotel.
